History of ownership/residents and use | Thomas, 7th Viscount Bulkeley, later Warren-Bulkeley, was M.P. for Anglesea 1774-1784. He married Elizabeth Harriot who had inherited the estate from her aunt, Mrs Carpenter, the granddaughter of the Earl of Cholmondeley. Viscount Bulkeley died at Englefield Green in 1822 leaving no children. His wife continued to live in the house until her death in 1832 when the property was bequeathed to George Fleming Leicester under the condition he take the name of Warren. George Warren, 2nd Baron de Tabley, was a Liberal politician and Treasurer of the Household 1868-1872. He was a godson of George IV. |
